Essential Need's Message

Drummoyne Bakehouse Cafe Cancelled joined our Mission to help provide access to “Clean Water for All by 2030”. This Mission was initiated by the United Nations.

A big thank you to Drummoyne Bakehouse Cafe Cancelled’s team and customers for joining this extremely important mission on 05 April 2018.

When Carla and Colin first opened the doors of Drummoyne’s Bakehouse Cafe back in 1995, they had a simple dream. They wanted to provide a friendly, cosy atmosphere where guests could enjoy a delicious meal or snack. They couldn’t have imagined just how popular this humble cafe would become.

Today, foodies from all over Sydney are flocking to the cafe to get their hands on the famous breads, cakes and treats. Everything is made from scratch and baked to order. High demand means high turnover, so a team of skilled pastry chefs are kept busy throughout the day.

This caring family business has many long-term staff that have worked at the cafe since the beginning. Colin is a highly qualified chef with nearly 30 years experience in the kitchen. Head chef, Mark, who completed his apprenticeship with the cafe when he was 18, is now master of the breads and pastries. Liz has also been with the cafe since the early days. As a pastry chef extraordinaire, she is responsible for creating the many magnificent cakes and treats on offer. Carla’s parents are invaluable members of the team and have long played a big part in creating a positive, friendly atmosphere at the cafe.

Carla and Her MumThe goods at Drummoyne’s Bakehouse Cafe have a superior flavour and texture that just can’t be re-created in frozen or transported food. Even having baked goods sitting in a fridge for days is not an option for the fussy chefs here. The cafe was founded on a belief that classic, quality food is an essential part of life, so shortcuts are not allowed. You won’t be surprised to hear that Drummoyne’s Bakehouse Cafe has been honoured to receive numerous awards over the years. All of the staff share a passion for the business and the local community.

After two expansions, Drummoyne’s Bakehouse Cafe now has indoor and outdoor seating for 60 people. So call in with friends or family to enjoy breakfast, lunch, or just a coffee. And don’t forget to take some goodies home with you!
